RMSA Day Two PM

Today at noon they had table talk conversations at the various tables while folks were eating lunch. There were almost 30 different topics. I was late arriving (updating this mornings happenings), but there was a space left at the Synod Secretary's table, Katherine Cruson. The topic was what steps are necessary in amending your congregation's constitution. Most congregations are not aware that any changes made to their constitutions, must be approved by the Synod Council. Katherine is the person that reviews those changes and makes recommendations to the Synod Council. So it is critical that she is kept in the loop and is a good resource for running desired changes by while language is being worked out by a church council.
The results from the first ballot were announced, and several runoffs were required. Several other reports were given followed by another Bible Study. By then it was time to return to the resolutions before the Assembly. Resolution No. 2, Lutheran Malaria Initiative Pilot Synod, passed unanimously. This is an issue that the Synod's youth are excited about. The Rocky Mountain Synod will become one of the pilot Synods for the ELCA in 2011. Resolution No.3, Save Haven for Children, Youth and Adults Within Each Congregation also passed unanimously. This resolution encourages each congregation to create a Safe Haven Team to establish basic Safe Haven guidelines before the Synod Assembly in 2012. Becca and Pastor Mark informed me that Trinity was already doing this.
This afternoon from 3-5PM included various excursions, most away from the hotel again on various subjects such as Capitol Advocacy, Denver Art Museum Tour, Book of Faith, USC Colfax Walk, Every Home is a Home School, Lutheran Refuge Services, Taize and more. Instead of attending one of these I wanted to update the blog.
